Another year of Sunday Twilight Concerts is in the books and what a year it was! 2018 served up some of our favorite performances with a different genre every week during June, July, and August.
We witnessed crowds dancing to the Wise Guys’ top 40 covers, pure joy and laughter from children during Spaghetti Eddie, the 145th Army Band performing the Star Spangled Banner on the 4th of July weekend, beautiful diversity with Orquestra D’Calle, and a completely packed lawn for Shortt Dogg’s electric performance! We loved every minute of it.
Before the Oklahoma Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra performed at our last concert of the year, Seth Lewis, Arts Council OKC’s Projects Director, expressed his appreciation for all of the performers and attendees: “It has been an incredible summer for the Sunday Twilight Concert Series… I can’t believe this Sunday is the last concert of the season! Some of the best local and regional performers joined us on the Devon Lawn Stage and the OKC community showed up and gave their support week after week.”
Truly, music lovers from all over the state demonstrated their support for this series as each Sunday night they gathered together with their friends, families, and favorite lawn chairs or picnic blankets to enjoy each other’s company and live performances under the stars.
Arts Council OKC Artisans helped us celebrate the end of the season, in what has become their longest standing tradition: the Artisan Twilight Takeover. During the “takeover” Artisans members new and old assembled on the lawn to meet their fellow young professionals, enjoy complimentary snacks & refreshments, and, of course, take in the classical sounds of the Oklahoma Virtuosi.
During the intermission, Artisans participated in a fact-finding game where they learned about their fellow members and won prizes including an art print from local artist and former featured Festival artist Joy Richardson!
“The concert … was a perfect opportunity to get together, enjoy local musicians, and celebrate the beginning of a new year for the Artisans,” says Artisans Vice Chair Leah Roper. “We are putting together another great [season] of programming for our members, and this was the perfect kickoff event.”

We are so grateful to all of the performers, volunteers, staff members, and attendees who make this concert series successful and worthwhile. We’ll see you next summer!
