Since 1987, the Opening Night celebration is the go-to event for families and friends to “open” the New Year with a bang. Downtown OKC’s Bicentennial Park and surrounding area sets the stage for an eventful night of live music, theatre, magic, and comedy performances, local flavor, arts activities, and, of course, fireworks!

On such a monumental night, we don’t want you to leave your kids at home with a babysitter; Opening Night was designed with the entire family in mind!

While some performances will be a little more fun for the parents, children are welcome at all 9 stages located in Bicentennial Park, Civic Center Music Hall, Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library, City Hall, and the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.

Joe Coover Magic will delight attendees of all ages with his never-before-seen magical acts. Lyric Theatre will perform a show-stopping Broadway Revue. Orquesta D’Calle will get everyone in the mood to dance with their Latin and Cuban hits. And Moetowne Alex & the NightView Band will keep you grooving in our designated Children’s Area in the Civic Center Hall of Mirrors.

“This year’s Children’s Area will include returning favorites such as face painting by the Bricktown Clowns and a festive photo booth, as well as all new interactive art projects. Kids of all ages can create Opening Night NYE ball noisemakers, firework look-alike crafts, and participate in a colorful collaborative art piece.” – Jill Coker, Children’s Area Staff Liaison

Don’t worry about feeding your crew before you arrive, there will be 11 local food trucks providing food and drinks at affordable prices to keep you energized as your travel from venue to venue!

At the end of the night, you can gather together in Bicentennial Park for the midnight fireworks display and ring in the New Year with those that matter the most.
