Colin first began his journey in guitar at the age of eleven, self taught, and armed only with an old Fender acoustic guitar, chord dictionary and a Jimi Hendrix Signature Licks book. After spending the next five years immersed in the works of Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the three Kings (B.B., Freddie and Albert), he began to expand his musical horizons and during his junior year of high school at Classen School Of Advanced Studies began to study classical guitar.

Colin went on to become a graduate of Southern Nazarene University with a Bachelor’s of Classical Guitar Performance, and of Oklahoma City University with a Master’s Degree in Classical Guitar Performance under Matt Denman. He is also currently the Professor of Classical Guitar at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Colin has also had the honor of studying privately with Celin Romero and the Romero Guitar Quartet at the Celedonio Romero Guitar Institute, for whom he has arranged concertos and performed onstage with. Additionally, he has had the privilege of performing in master classes with Andrew York, Scott Tennant, Connie Sheu, Adam Holzman, Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Jason Vieaux, and Anton Baranov. Colin is also a member of the Tetrau Quartet, first prize winners of the Brownsville Classical Guitar Competition and also the 2015 Guitar Foundation of America Ensemble Showcase. Colin’s arrangement of Ravel’s String Quartet in F Major has also been featured on the internationally broadcast radio show “Classical Guitar Alive!” Most recently, he has performed Frank Zappa’s “Dogbreath Variations” with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic.

Colin performs on a 2017 630mm Woodring Cedar/Cedar Doubletop made by the luthier Aaron Ringo.
