When you arrive, make sure you pick up a map at Festival Headquarters, located in the center of Bicentennial Park on Colcord Dr. You won’t want to miss the demonstrations and performances happening around the Festival all day long.

The Artisans descended on Film Row this week to learn about The Art of Photography. This event was hosted at Randy Coleman Photography where current Artisans and prospective members were greeted with light bites, sponsored by Mickey Mantle’s Steakhouse, and local brews, sponsored by Vanessa House Beer Company.

Today, Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) announced the continuation of the Arts Partnership for OKCPS for the 2018-2019 school year. The partnership, which helps bring visual arts, theater, dance, and music into OKCPS classrooms, will have a budget of $160,000 for next school year thanks to the donations of Gardner Tanenbaum Holdings.

As Teen Arts Council gears up to create their own collaborative artwork for this year’s Teen Arts Showcase, experiencing the positive nature of the relation between art and community is an important part of the process. With this in mind, the Teen Arts Council visited Symbiotic at the Hulsey Gallery, located within the Norick Art Center at Oklahoma City University.

Did you know that Festival of the Arts takes about one calendar year to plan and execute? Our volunteer co-chairs, committees, and talented jurors take great care selecting over 140 visual artists, 20 food vendors, and 150 performing artists. One of the highlights of the jury process—and certainly the most delicious—is the annual Food Jury that takes place in January.

Last month, Arts Council Oklahoma City presented its first All Access Arts Showcase at IAO Gallery. All Access Arts is an AOCKC program that provides music, dance, and visual arts education to under-served populations in OKC, including elementary schools.

This past weekend Arts Council Oklahoma City’s young professional group, the Artisans, held a new type of event being done around the metro, The Art of Architecture Bike Tour. The event was led by local Architect and Artisan member, Ryan Fogle, and was sponsored by Spokies Bike Share.

In 2015 Arts Council Oklahoma City launched a community outreach program designed to bring art classes into senior living facilities in the Oklahoma City metro. Offering bi-weekly classes taught by Arts Council evaluated teaching artists, the Creative Aging infinitive provides fun and educational art making experiences to over 250 senior adults in 13 different locations each month.
