This past weekend Arts Council Oklahoma City’s young professional group, the Artisans, held a new type of event being done around the metro, The Art of Architecture Bike Tour. The event was led by local Architect and Artisan member, Ryan Fogle, and was sponsored by Spokies Bike Share.

In 2015 Arts Council Oklahoma City launched a community outreach program designed to bring art classes into senior living facilities in the Oklahoma City metro. Offering bi-weekly classes taught by Arts Council evaluated teaching artists, the Creative Aging infinitive provides fun and educational art making experiences to over 250 senior adults in 13 different locations each month.

The second annual Art Beyond the Glass: Oklahoma City is taking place on Sunday, September 24 at 51st street Speakeasy! ABTG features Oklahoma City’s top bartenders mixing cocktails and showcasing their artistry. The event features paintings, photography, live music, DJs, dancers, handmade glass and more.

Creativity doesn’t slow down for summer, and neither does All Access Arts. Thanks to a strong mix of community partners, talented performers, and a some of the best teaching artists around, our summer initiatives were able to bring arts experiences to over 25 locations in and around the Oklahoma City area. In addition to reach and variety of art classes and performances, it was all provided to the community with no cost to families.

Arts in the Park, a partnership with the City of Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department, provides FREE summer arts classes for children ages 6-12 in parks and recreation centers across the city. Kids can enjoy hands-on, interactive arts classes including drama, music, printmaking, storytelling, and dance.

Since the early 1990s, All Access Arts has served central Oklahoma’s need for quality arts instruction and engagement. all Access Arts (AAA) supports cognitive, social and creative development through an artist-in-residence program, interactive performances, and visual and performing arts education. AAA covers individuals across the age spectrum from preschoolers to seniors.

Neighborhood Arts brings in musical styles and performance arts to round out the cultural offerings available over the summer at local libraries around Oklahoma City. The performances are sponsored by the Metropolitan Library System, Arts Council Oklahoma City, National Endowment of the Arts, and the Oklahoma Arts Council, and aim to provide access to music, dance and visual arts education to the community.

A new addition to the All Access Arts line up of programs this year, the Dance to Learn initiative addresses community need by providing dance/movement education and enrichment in a safe educational environment. Our carefully selected teaching artists, along with school staff, have set out to help students establish a dance vocabulary, build artistic knowledge and skills, and gain confidence as performers.

As part of our Art in the Park program this week, participants are creating a zoo of clay animals. Under the instruction of teaching artist Kristina Haden, young artists are learning proper techniques for a variety of clay tools, acrylic paints, and other materials to create clay sculptures.
