Born in Cuba, bassist and composer Raul Reyes moved to the United States in 2010, seeking a new direction for his music career. Reyes has been described as a bassist with “advanced sense of rhythm, beautiful sound, time, and solos.” His swinging quarter notes and versatility in contemporary jazz trends, along with his cheerful charisma has earned him a reputation as a first call bassist. Reyes has worked with master jazz artists such as Dan Haerle, Quincy Davis, Jim Riggs, Carlos Averhoff Jr., Frederick Sanders, Ed Soph, Davy Mooney, among many others.

As an UNT student, Reyes became a member of the seven-time GRAMMY-nominated One O’Clock Lab Band and appeared on their last album Rhythm of the Road. In 2018, Reyes joined saxophonist John Petrucielli’s band and toured all over the US. Raul also stays very active in the Latin music scene and have collaborated with renowned artists such as Maelo Ruiz, Corina Bartra, Chino Nuñez, and Tito Puente Jr.
