“The original music of Oklahoma based singer-songwriter Elizabeth Speegle is a jazz laced fusion of pop, funk and soul, or more simply jazz-pop fusion. Relevant lyrics, memorable melodies, and excellent musicianship all come together to create Elizabeth’s distinct sound. Elizabeth is known for her smoky, soulful vocals and energetic live shows that engage the audience and leave them with an authentic musical experience that keeps them coming back.

Her recent projects include four 2019 releases: Time and Tears, This Love, The Way You’re Looking At Me, and a re-release of Georgia, a track from her 2016 Condo On The Moon EP. Her most “Shazam’d” song, she notes, is This Love. In 2016, Elizabeth Speegle Band was awarded Best Jazz Band by the Oklahoma Gazette Music Awards. In addition to her ongoing gigs and residencies, Elizabeth has played numerous festivals, including Norman Music Festival, OKC Festival of the Arts, Tulsa Mayfest, Twilight Concert Series and Tulsa’s Ladies On The Green.

Elizabeth’s presence and contribution to the Oklahoma music scene has been a constant. Not just as a gigging musician, with 50+ shows in 2019, but as a multi published songwriter she has also been a song-writing mentor. Elizabeth established and hosted the NSAI OKC songwriters group, hosted numerous songwriters workshops and writer’s nights, and taught songwriting at an Oklahoma City college.

Coming from a music family, music just “was” for Elizabeth. She says though, it may have been Joni Mitchell’s “Twisted” that made her want to write songs. She was shaped musically by “obsessively” listening to and reading liner notes of vinyl by Steely Dan, Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder and Jackson Brown…among her many other influences are Sting, Dido and Esparanza Spalding. It was her never released blues song “Somebody”, written in 1998 and according to Liz, inspired by “her sister’s cheating husband”, that launched her career. Shortly after, the original Elizabeth Speegle Band was formed.

The band members have since changed and Elizabeth is now recording as simply Elizabeth Speegle. She says she is “blessed and intensely grateful” for the opportunities she has been given to work with some of the best musicians and producers in the country. “…the musicians I share the stage with keep me in absolute awe! They always inspire me to go higher”.

Elizabeth is currently in the studio with an EP expected in 2020 and touring regionally – so stay tuned for more!”
