Roger Guenveur Smith is an actor, writer, and director who has created a prolific body of work on stage and screen. He adapted his Obie Award-winning A HUEY P NEWTON STORY into a Peabody Award-winning telefilm, currently streaming on Hulu. His Bessie Award-winning RODNEY KING is currently on Netflix. Both NEWTON and KING were presented at The Public Theater, scored by Marc Anthony Thompson, and directed for the screen by Mr. Smith’s longtime colleague, Spike Lee.

KARLOS K. HILLis Regents’ Professor of the Clara Luper Department of African and African American Studies at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Hill is the author of three books: Beyond The Rope: The Impact of Lynching on Black Culture and Memory, The Murder of Emmett Till: A Graphic History, and The 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre: A Photographic History. Dr. Hill founded the Tulsa Race Massacre Oklahoma Teacher’s Institute to support teaching the history of the race massacre to thousands of middle school and high school students. He also serves on the boards of the Freedom Center Planning Committee, the Clara Luper Legacy Committee, and the Board of Scholars for Facing History and Ourselves, and is actively engaged on other community initiatives working toward racial justice.
