2011 Devon Energy Sunday Twilight Concert with Flatland Travelers
7 p.m. August 14 Myriad Gardens Grand Lawn
OKLAHOMA CITY – This Sunday, grab your blankets and picnics to end your week at the Arts Council of Oklahoma City’s Devon Energy Sunday Twilight Concert Series.
The Flatland Travelers, a Stillwater-based band, is known for blurring the lines between genres during their set. Jazz, funk, reggae, blues and folk music are frequently showcased alongside a slew of guest musicians and friends, with Flatland’s ability to delve into a jam session that hypnotizes crowds. The group recently performed at the Wakarusa festival in Arkansas and the FreeTulsa! festival.
Flatland Travelers will take the stage at the Myriad Garden’s Grand Lawn August 14th at 7pm.
“This Sunday’s show is going to be a nice melting pot of musical genres,” said Emily Trotter, Communications Director for the Arts Council of Oklahoma City. “The Flatland Travelers are masters of mixing folk, reggae and everything in between – everyone who comes will certainly be entertained. Also, the cooler temperatures should really bring a great crowd!”
The free concerts, sponsored by Devon Energy, will be held on the Grand Lawn of the newly-renovated Myriad Gardens. Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs, but may not have glass containers or pets.
The Sunday Twilight Concert Series will continue through August, showcasing a wide variety of music genres. The line-up is as follows:
Aug. 14 - Flatland Travelers – Funk/Blues/Folk/Reggae
Aug. 21 - OK Chorale – Choral
Aug. 28 - Tekumbe – Latin Fusion
The 31st year of the Sunday Twilight Concert Series is presented by Devon Energy with additional support from Oklahoma Arts Council, Allied Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, and Magic 104.1 – KMGL.
