Festival of the Arts is full of fun things to see and do.
Creation Station
Creation Station lets everyone create a work of art.Children and adults can participate in this larger-than-life, interactive art exhibit. Be sure to stop by more than once so you can see the piece change. Creation Station is free, and is located at the northwest corner of the Myriad Botanical Gardens.
Young-at-Art Mart
At the Young-at-Art Mart Festival artists sell original works of art priced from $.50 to $5. This unique area is open to children 12 and under, and is located in the Youth Plaza on the east side of the Myriad Botanical Gardens.
Children's Art Field
At the Children's Art Field children can complete three art projects for a $2 fee. The projects include: Spirit Sticks, a creative wand or stick that children can decorate, Fling a Ring Thing, a glider made of straw and card stock that soars through the air, and Filtered Art, marker art on coffee filters that become small paintings when sprayed with water.This tent is located in the Youth Plaza on the east side of the Myriad Botanical Gardens.
Community Arts Showcase
The Community Arts Showcase tent features artwork made by children across the city in the Arts Council of Oklahoma City's Arts After School program and artwork made by teens from the Teen Advisory Council. The tent is located in the Youth Plaza, on the east side of the Myriad Botanical Gardens. An Opening Reception will be held 6-8 p.m.Wednesday, April 21.
Face Painting
Festival would not be the same without Face Painting! This popular attraction is located at the north end of the Crystal Bridge. The cost is $1.
Pottery Place
Another popular attraction is Pottery Place. Collin Rosebrook and the artisans of Paseo Pottery assist children and adults in selecting, creating, and firing a pot or vase using the ancient Oriental technique of RAKU. Prices range from $5 to $50.
Artful Experience
See live art demonstrations and learn about the creative process behind making art at Artful Experience. This year, four artistic media will be demonstrated from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. Come see artists work on wood carving, ceramics, watercolor media and other media. You are welcome to ask questions about how they make the work and see the materials close up.
